{ The Order of the Phoenix - minus Emmeline, to avoid the appearance of insensitivity }Alright, to preface this, I really hope that this is just a manifestation of my own paranoia and general unease in the wake of everything that has transpired over the last several days, but on the off chance that someone else was having similar concerns, I thought I might address it anyway. Was anyone else less-than-reassured by Avery's statement for the Prophet on Saturday? Normally, I would be glad to know that "we will not tolerate such violence" ( Avery, The Daily Prophet ), but given what we already know about both the Prophet and the minister's regime, I thought it sounded rather like the prelude to a lot of reactionary policies that target muggles and muggleborns.
Have we learned anything yet? Do we know whether or not it was really Gilbert Vance? {/ The Order of the Phoenix }
{ Sirius Black }Is there any... widely accepted social protocol for comforting someone whose father may have attempted to assassinate a world leader? (I'm not banking on this being stashed away in an easily-accessible corner of your brain as part of your general knowledge, but I figured if you still had those etiquette books, they might have instructions for a similar situation. Failed attempt to lead a militaristic coup, perhaps.) I'm useless for this sort of thing. Do you know how she and her family are holding up? {/ Sirius Black }
The last time I saw a gun being "fired," I was watching a film with my grandfather. It was one of those Spaghetti Westerns: for those of you who aren't familiar with the term, they're essentially film's answer to the Dime novel. They're bad Westerns written by people who have never seen the American West, and the audio doesn't match the movements of the characters' lips, because the films were originally recorded in Italian or Mandarin and lazily dubbed over. The good guys all wear white hats, and the bad guys all wear black hats, in case the audience members really don't feel like paying attention to character descriptions. The plots mostly consist of sheriffs fighting cattle thieves or bank robbers in showdowns at various saloons and corrals, and these battles all tend to go the same way. As far as muggle cinema goes, these films are among its more ridiculous contributions to society. Still, at least in Spaghetti Westerns, it's always the men in the black hats who get shot.
Well, I guess I will go read something structured that contains an obvious moral lesson, and for a while, I'll pretend that cause and effect works that way. I call it, "The Great Cosmic Flow Chart of Good and Evil." Not to be confused with the Venn Diagrams of Debauchery, or the the Dreaded Pie Chart of Iniquity.
As Always, - Remus J. Lupin
